Crafty Monday: An F.O.! Talia
Well, here is my finished Talia. I have to say, I am very happy with the outcome. Despite this picture of me. That is motivating me to stay on my diet. ugh.
But seriously, I love it. It’s a fun knit. Never a dull moment. You do a few repeats of the lace on the bottom, just enough, and then you get to start something different. Stockinette, with little garter stitch thrown in. And some lace on the edges. And then when you get sick of the stockinette, you knit in ribbing at the finish line.
I knitted the large size this time. The size for 42″. I usually go for the size closest to 38″ because I like a little bit of negative ease but since this is a vest I thought I should knit more to my actual size. Glad I did. It fits just perfectly over a t-shirt, and probably over a nice, button down shirt, too.
I bought the fabulous buttons (shown closeup below) at my LYS, A Grand Yarn. I couldn’t find anything cute at JoAnns. But A Grand Yarn was nothing BUT adorable buttons for about the same price. From now on, it’s to my LYS for buttons.
Yarn: I didn’t use the recommended yarn for this, as I mentioned previously. I couldn’t find Lambs Pride Worsted in any nice brown colors. So I hunted around and found the lovely Berrocco Ultra Alpca. It’s also worsted and I got gauge with it. It made a lovely substitution. I wanted something a little more than the standard 100 percent wool. So I’m happy with my choice. Here’s the Ravelry link if interested.
